Surprise for the Taste Buds at ThaiDara Restaurant

Have you went to a place thinking "Okay, this will do." and ended up with "Wow!"? That happened to me and my friends earlier when we went out to lunch. We were supposed to eat in a burger joint in Kapitolyo, Pasig. For some reason, we didn't push through with the burger plan. Thankfully, we saw the huge sign of ThaiDara Restaurant nearby. Since time was of the essence (we were only allowed an hour to eat), we randomly decided to eat there.

I am a food lover and that is the reason why I almost always bring a camera or my phone with me. But I was having a bad day so I left it, expecting nothing less than ordinary food. However, the delicious taste of our lunch made me regret my decision. Thankfully, one of my friends brought her camera-phone with her.

Unfortunately, I can't give you a food review this time. Pardon the lack of photos, I was caught off-guard by the surprises life gave me earlier. What I can share with you are the experiences me and my friends had in this restaurant.

The waiter was very nice and accommodating. I asked him on the waiting time because we were getting worried that we might not be late for work later on. He told us, "ten minutes". So we decided to give it a try.

It was my third time to eat in a Thai restaurant, but some of my friends were having it for the first time. They gave me the floor to choose the food. I chose Green Curry Chicken and Threesome Rice. My friend Rachel added Bangkok Spring Rolls for us. We ordered dishes good for 2-3 people. She happily volunteered to take all these photos we see in this blog post.

Kudos to the waiter! Food was served in less than ten minutes! Yup, I timed it. When you are hungry, every minute is an eternity.

The friendly waiter served the Threesome Rice first. There is a reason why it was called Threesome... something about the ingredients put in the rice. Hmmm... but I can't remember it anymore out of sheer eagerness for the food. We literally pigged out on it that we forgot to take a photo of it first. But ah well....

What was left of the Threesome Rice just seconds after it was served.
Threesome Rice already had flavor in it. Alone, it will do. Having Green Curry Chicken to pair it with enhances the flavor even more! We had to request for a not-so-spicy serving of this dish. I know that Thai food is spicy.

Lastly, we had Bangkok Spring Rolls. I really didn't have any idea what it was made of. It revealed to be made up of vegetables in the end. Oops, one of my friends don't like veggies. I, too, don't like certain veggies. So what I did was to mix the spring roll to my rice and green curry chicken! It blended perfectly and the green curry masked the leafy taste.

I usually describe the taste in detail when I write food reviews. Ever wondered why I didn't this time? Truth is that... I was very overwhelmed by the ambience, the flavor, the whole experience! The food speaks for itself! I fell short for words. I didn't think... I just ate... and ate... and gave in to the passion found in the food.

Me and my friends were so happy when we left. My friend, Michelle, even said, "This is the type of restaurant I want to treat my whole family with. It was truly worth it!"

And did I mention we ordered dishes good for 2-3 persons? There were five of us and it was more than enough. One spring roll was left and Michelle had to eat it forcefully. With that I can say that the prices are reasonable.

Beyond everything else, it was the first time that I felt deep happiness in the food. The chef must be truly passionate with his craft! I am very happy that he shared it with us.
