[Review] Frubbas Fruit Chips

Snacking has always been my addiction. Some snacks are good; most are bad. The bottomline is, I eat anything that tastes great! So for now, I will share with you a product that I got from my visit to the World Bazaar Festival this year. It is a snack for the health conscious. I'm glad that it is delicious, too.

Introducing Frubbas Fruit Chips! According to the salesgirl, this product is still being released to the Philippine Market. Being a rare find for now, I am happy that I was able to buy at the bazaar. A foil pack costs Php38, while a box (consisting of 10 packs) costs PhP360.

Frubbas Fruit Chips is available in three flavors: Grapes, Strawberry, and Apple. This snack is made of dried fruits. It is different from the soft and elastic variants you see in the market. This one is crispy. Well, I guess there are a lot of ways to dry and preserve a fruit. But I like this crispy one better. I bought each available variant of Frubbas for me to try.

Frubbas in Grapes, Strawberry, and Apple.
So let's start with Frubbas Grape/Raisin Crisps. As I opened the foil pack, I got disappointed at how little the contents are. Oh I didn't see what was written at the back of the packaging!

The contents of the foil pack (raisin).

Each pack has only 25-35 grapes. :(

A closer look at the dried grapes.
The Frubbas dried grapes tastes just like your sweet grapes, without the juiciness. Its sweetness is the same as the fresh fruit. I like the crispiness that pops in between my teeth at each bite.

Let's move on to Frubbas dried strawberries. This is the most attractive of all three! Its color is red and it tasted just like the fresh fruit! As before, the contents was so little.

Only six strawberries. :(

Closer look at some dried strawberries.
The dried strawberries reminded me of fresh ones on my favorite yogurt. Strawberries are a regular topping on my cup of yogurt. Frubbas dried strawberries is crispy, and tasted like fresh strawberries, too. It is sweet but there is a hint of sourness in every piece.

The last version that I ate was the dried apples. After my experience with the grapes and strawberries, I expected few contents on this one.

The contents.

Contains only 1 1/2 apples.
I didn't find this one appealing to me. Frubbas dried apples are not as sweet as the grape or strawberry variants. It's not that crispy, too. On the positive note, it also tastes naturally like fresh apples. But I like fresh apples better than this.

This is worth note taking: Frubbas is free of preservatives and known allergens as declared at the back of their package...

My favorite among the three variants is Frubbas Strawberry Crisps. I am still thinking if I will buy another on my next visit. My brain says, "Don't buy it. You get so little out of PhP38. It's not worth the price." On the other hand, my heart says, "It's so yummy! Forget the price and go have it!". It is not an easy decision to make. However, if you are looking for a healthy twist to your snacking experience, Frubbas Fruit Crisps is definitely a try!

I found your blog while doing research on the Frubbas Fruit Chips snacks... looks like you are the only person who posted about it so far.

I'm in British Columbia, Canada and just found these at the store last week. It's a lot cheaper here.. only $2CAD for a box (10 pack), that's less than $90PhP!

For price of 2 pounds of apple I get to buy 10 packs of conveinent fruit snacks , it's actually cheaper than buying fresh fruits.

And I think these are going to be popular, Even Disney just came out with their own freeze dried fruit chips at 5x the price..
